Willmott Dixon, a leading UK construction company, wanted to benchmark the performance of their 250+ projects against a set of key industry targets. The data would be used to ensure the projects complied with contract requirements, were consistent across their projects and acted as a comparative measure against competitors and industry standards.
We spent 8 months immersed into the roles of key personnel from the head office through to a number of busy construction sites across the UK.
Our learnings enabled us to create a streamlined UX that was prototyped before being rolled up into a bespoke portal called MiProject. The service is updated in real time and reports on the progress and results of each project which is accessed by over 3,000 employees as well as clients.
MiProject was an instant success and was rolled out across the group. Externally, it positioned Willmott Dixon as innovators in their field and was particularly popular with the public sector clients. The reported results include:
- Significantly reduced training needs and costs
- Increased tender success rate
- MiProject saves Willmott Dixon approximately £1.7m per annum
The project was delivered on time and on budget, (very rare in my experience), They walked in the shoes of every person that would interact with the new portal…they have given my main board confidence to invest in future digital projects…to say we are a happy client would be an understatement.
